Center for Safer Schools Protecting Our Students
Middle School and High School Information
In accordance with North Carolina House Bill 142, all students in grades 6-12 are required to view specific videos on abuse and neglect as part of the Protecting Our Students Act. The NC Center for Safer Schools developed these videos and the required portion will be viewed by our students in grades 6-12 on Monday, September 22, 2025. Please take a moment to review the material and decide if you want your student to participate in viewing the video. If you do not want your child to view these videos, it is your responsibility to contact the school administrator to opt your child out.
In conjunction with these videos, students will also receive information about the Say Something Anonymous Reporting System. The Say Something Anonymous Reporting System (SS-ARS) is a program designed to provide a secure and confidential way for individuals to report concerning or threatening behavior to help prevent violence, suicide, bullying, and self-harm in schools. It utilizes a mobile app, website, and 24/7 phone hotline for anonymous reporting. Trained crisis counselors at the Sandy Hook Promise National Crisis Center assess and triage tips, then forward them to school officials and/or law enforcement as needed.
